Why Join

Ok, so you are interested in photography and learning more about your camera, taking better pictures, and printing.  The question is: why should you join a photo club?  There are quite a few reasons why you should join a photo club, but let's focus on some of the key benefits.

The Club Members

One of the top reasons to join a photo club is because of the membership.  The Indian River Photo Club is over 200 members strong with a wide range of skills from the students interested in photography to the retired professionals and the professionals.  It helps when you can just ask a question at a meeting and get answers from professionals or another beginner.

The Seminars

A top reason people join photo clubs is to learn more about photography.  It's no surprise to learn that most clubs offer seminars from getting to know your camera to lighting and photo correction.  These seminars typically run several hours and may cost money, but club members will either save money or get free admission.

Photo Safaris

If there is any one thing you can expect from photographers, it's a desire to get the best photos.  This desire typically drives clubs to seek early admission to hot spots such as the Brevard Zoo, St. Augustine Alligator Farm, Bok Tower, and more.  In addition to early access, other members will typically be roaming or have set locations to help learn more about how to get that perfect shot.

In addition to the normal Safaris, some clubs have been able to make special arrangements with private individuals or groups to gain access to locations that aren't open to the public.  These special trips are typically limited to club members only or club members are given priority.

The Benefits

There are plenty of other reasons to join a photo club. In addition to all the advantages offered by these photo clubs, they typically offer benefits to their members.  You can find out more regarding the Indian River Photo Club's benefits here.
